Activision has filed a federal lawsuit against German cheat makers EngineOwning and associated individuals for “trafficking in technologies that circumvent or evade anti-cheat technologies used by Activision to protect the integrity of [Call of Duty] games.”

Microsoft won’t stop you installing Windows 11 on older PCs

Microsoft is announcing that it won’t block people from installing Windows 11 on most older PCs. While the software maker has recommended hardware requirements for Windows 11 — which it’s largely sticking to — a restriction to install the OS will only be enforced when you try to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 through Windows Update. This means anyone with a PC with an older CPU that doesn’t officially pass the upgrade test can still go ahead and download an ISO file of Windows 11 and install the OS manually. Here’s the easiest way to do that as

This device could stop USB cyberattacks for good

Although USB devices such as flash drives are convenient and make moving data between devices easier, they can also be abused by cybercriminals to infect computers with malware and other viruses.

This is why a team of scientists and professors from Liverpool Hope University in the UK have created a sophisticated new device capable of countering the threats posed by malicious USB devices.

The project, led by Dr Shishir Kumar Shandilya alongside Professor Atulya Nagar, is aimed at removing one of the most common paths through which malicious files and programs can be injected by attackers and cybercriminals.

Android Auto for Phone Screens stop working for some users

Google’s ambitions in the car led to Android Auto being redesigned a couple of years ago, mostly to positive feedback. However, the version of Android Auto on phone screens was meant to shut down at the time and has been on life support ever since. Now, that version has stopped working for some users.

The aptly named “Android Auto for Phone Screens” was launched in 2019 as Google was forced to delay Google Assistant Driving Mode. That feature, which finally started rolling out in 2020, continued into earlier this year, and has expanded since, was supposed to replace the experience

Why You Should Stop Sending Texts From Your Android Messages App

Somewhat ironically, just as the backlash against Facebook continues for its forced change of terms on 2 billion WhatsApp users, Google seems yet again to have slipped by unnoticed. Now, hundreds of millions of Android users need to decide who they trust with their data, given recent harvesting revelations.

Android Messages is trying to fix the major security holes in its architecture. But after launching improvements in beta last year, Google has confirmed to me that there are still no public dates for an actual platform update and that those improvements are still heavily restricted. Until that changes,
